Department of Anaesthesia


A. Department of Anaesthesia provides the following services:

General Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia and Monitored Anaesthesia Care (MAC)
services to all the patients admitted under various surgical branches for elective
surgeries, such as General Surgery, ENT, Eye, Orthopedics, Obs and Gynae and Plastic
Surgery.

Pre-Anaesthetic Check up (PAC in OPD no.1) Daily on all working days. Bed Side PAC in
wards and review PAC day prior to surgery date.
Peri-operative Anaesthesia services including post-operative pain.
Anaesthesia services for Emergency Surgeries in all surgical specialties, such as,
General Surgery, Obstetric and Gynaecology, Orthopedics, ENT and Plastic Surgery.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – Open ICU provides treatment to patients requiring critical
care round the clock

Advanced Cardiac Life Support/ Basic Life Support (ACLS/ BLS) training is provided
regularly to hospital staff and paramedics.

Anaesthesia department manages MGPS & CSSD services in the hospital.

Medical Gas Pipeline System (LMO, Oxygen, nitrous Oxide, Vacuum) provides safe and
uninterrupted medical gas supply through pipeline to the entire hospital.
CSSD services provide sterile instruments and linen to the entire hospital for safe
procedures

The department is accredited for DNB seats in Anaesthesia for Post MBBS (Primary)
and Post Diploma (Secondary) DNB courses. Research activity for various thesis
projects is undertaken and regular bed side and classroom teaching as well as hands-
on training is imparted.
